Studies have shown that electric fencing is one of the most effective deterrents to reduce damage on livestock by wolves, which is good news for farmers and shepherds in Northern and Central Europe.

To work properly, electric fencing systems need to be at least 1.2 metres high and voltage must be kept up with a suitable energiser.

The electric fencing method has a conditioning effect on the wolf, which is a protected species, and it will learn to avoid it after the initial contact.
